Our role is to serve our people and not to be served – Madzimawe

WHEN a chief sits down to share his personal life, he reveals his simplicity hidden in royalty – and this definitely fits Chief Madzimawe’s persona. It is not often that you meet him, let alone ask him to speak about his personal life. But when time allows, he easily accepts to reveal his true self. “Chief Madzimawe is a simple person. A normal one, not a complicated one,” he tells this writer in an exclusive interview at Mtenguleni in Chipata. Despite his busy schedule three days before the Nc’wala ceremony of the Ngoni people, he finds time to share his life’s experience. As he talks, he intermittently poses to greet his subjects as they come by, one after the other, to recognise his presence.

Chief Madzimawe ensured the girls are not distracted from completing their education to effectively contribute to national development.Chief Madzimawe works hand in hand with officials in his Community. He promotes Education and Sponsores many children whose Parents are not able to take them to school BECAUSE EDUCATION IS ONLY WEAPON WE CAN USE TO REMOVE POVERTY.

Community

Madzimawe has many surrounding villages namely MABENI VILLAGE, KAPHINDE VILLAGE, MWALE VILLAGE, KASALA VILLAGE, CHADYELA VILLAGE, LUNDU VILLAGE etc. Agriculture is highly followed and done which brings about increase in economical growth and development to the Community. Most children in these neighbouring villages have access to EDUCATION through Agriculture and Sources of money. Villagers are able to build houses, shops etc. Transportation is not a problem in Madzimawe Community and it is one of the common business done by most people of this community.
